Cultural fire can differ in scale, timing, purpose, governance, and ecological objectives. Applying Indigenous knowledge effectively requires attention to particular communities and landscapes rather than assuming that a universal Indigenous fire-management formula exists.

The growing recognition of Indigenous fire stewardship consequently challenges both historical fire-suppression policies and conventional ideas about supposedly untouched ecosystems.

Conclusion

Indigenous fire management demonstrates that fire has long been a tool of ecological stewardship, cultural continuity, food production, biodiversity conservation, and landscape management.
