Wiki Search

The "Search" function only searches for whole words once "enter" (or the magnifier tool on a phone display) is hit but will try to auto-complete before "enter" is hit.

The Wiki Search is a very powerful tool when trying to find specific information within this Wiki. However the best way to utilize it is not obvious. The most important thing to know is: Don't put in too much information, a simple "Clim" will pull up a drop down with all pages that start with "Clim" where "Climate Change ideas" will pull up nothing. However simply typing "clim" and then "enter" will only ask you if you want to create the page "clim" (hint:you don't want to do that.). This is because the "Search" function only searches for whole words once "enter" is hit but will try to auto-complete before "enter" is hit.

There are some other tricks that can be learned which help greatly. Knowing what prefixes are used by this wiki as well as Namespaces. Namespaces are followed by a colon, this page belongs to the Namespace Help: for example. Prefixes are simply words or numbers followed by a space at the beginning of a page name which help narrow down a search. For example cities and towns are used as prefixes in this Wiki. Start typing the name of a city or town and you should start to see a drop down list of pages which pertain to that town or city.
